Polini Italian Cup: challenge number two in Pomposa

Emotions and show are the key words of the second race of Polini Italian Cup 2022 that went on stage on Sunday 1st of May on the circuit of Pomposa (FE).

In Race-1 Paolo Birtele starts first, followed by Alessandro Blando and Oliva Alcantara who, in the desperate effort to chase Birtele, slips, as Matteo Tiraferri proves to keep the pace of the best ones. Birtele and Blando run away and increase the pace over the rest of the group and do not leave room to adversaries. Birtele hits an amazing victory before Blando and an incredible Tiraferri who passes Requena on the last lap and ends on third position.

 

In Race-2 Birtele sprints again, followed by Oliva Alcantara and Tiraferri. Blando seems to recover over Birtele, but slips and loses some positions. In the duel between Alcantara and Tiraferri, the Spanish wins by a whisker. Under the chequered flag, Birtele’s win over Oliva Alcantara and Tiraferri.

At start of Race 1, Luca Stocco is the quickest, but the trajectory facilitates Andrea Belotti who can take control of race. The two riders stay in the lead throughout the race, when Belotti has the final sprint over Stocco and Andrea Visani, third.

Stucco sprints before everyone in Race-2 too. Mattia Cielo and Belotti come back and enter the front group. In a sequence of overtakings and counter-passes, Stocco loses ground. On the last lap, a contact between Cielo and Visani paves the way for Alberto Sfiller who wins preceding Belotti and Visani.

In Race-1 Danny Raccagni starts from pole and right away sets his pace, followed by Alex Rota and Andrea Casagrande. Raccagni distances the adversaries but Casagrande falls, favouring Marco Lazzoni who gains positions. Other twist: Lazzoni slips, Rota takes advantage, chased by Davide Manzo, as the two riders try to follow Raccagni. Race-1 ends with the victory of Raccagni over Rota, Tortosa and Manzo.

 

 

In Race-2, Raccagni starts first before Manzo who slips. Rota and Matteo Tortosa try unsuccessfully to reach Raccagni who wins preceding Rota and Tortosa.

Day podium: Raccagni, Rota, Tortosa.

The Spanish Romera Guerrero is the quickest at start of Race-1, but the Slovenian Marko Mihael takes the lead. Behind them, Marco Moroni and Antonio Paduano get into the spotlight. Paduano tries to escape and gets first position preceding Guerrero, Mihael and Moroni on finish line.

 

 

In Race-2 Guerrero sprints again, pursued by Luca Zani and Mihael, who slips. Paduano, who started from the pit, is the author of a resounding come back and assails Guerrero. In the final sprint, Guerrero wins, followed by Paduano and the French Araud Petit.
