One year passed after his last victory in Scooter 100 Big Evolution. It was May 2018, on the circuit of Ottobiano on that occasion, too: Matteo Tiraferri got the first position in Race 2. Then, a long fast until Sunday, July 14th, 2019, when coming back to the track near Pavia and tasting again the satisfaction of getting on top of podium, on an unforgettable day with Polini Scooter Team. The rider from Romagna, started with the second time, surprised everyone for his determination and self-confidence when going to lead the race and reaching the finish first in both race rounds.

THE CHAMPION’S RETURN


In Race 1, the Dutch Sarik Roufs sprints first before all, but after the first brake he gets too long bend and paves the way for Corsi and Vignone. Tiraferri, starting from first row, getting quicker and quicker, first passes Vignone, then his team mate Corsi. Morelli and Starnone make intense the first parts of the race. Vignone is sanctioned with 20 seconds delay and moves back in the parade. All this while Starnone signs fast laps and recovers ground over the leading duo. He starts by passing Corsi, then Tiraferri. By crossing the line, Starnone slips, but doesn’t waste time and restarts with a resounding recovery, has the better of Corsi for the second position on a sprint, as Tiraferri wins lonely.

 

In Race 2 Luca Zani and Morelli are off like a shot. Tiraferri immediately wiggles out of the fray, passes the two pacesetters and makes off. Corsi and Starnone chase. Starnone manages to distance Corsi and assails Tiraferri too. Behind, Vignone passes Corsi who prudently takes the championship classification into consideration. On the last bend, Starnone tries to have a brake, but he is too slow, so Tiraferri doesn’t miss having seconds.

Day podium: Tiraferri, Starnone, Corsi.

SAURO LEADING THE CHAMPIONSHIP


In Race 1 Caffagni has a good start, followed by Sauro. Marola, the championship leader, follows them. The three pacesetters distance the group and give birth to a tough contest, chased by Pauletto, Iannini and the remaining riders. Caffagni resists the continuous attacks of Sauro, even though lap after lap Caffagni goes to win and precedes Sauro and Marola.

In Race 2, Iannini starts first and drags Scarpelli and Sauro, despite Sauro had started from third row. Sauro gets rid of Scarpelli and assaults Iannini. Behind the three riders, Marola barely finds the pace. Sauro takes advantage and doesn’t think of the championship, passes Iannini, escapes from the rival who keeps second position, as Marola manages to regain the third position.

Day podium: Sauro, Iannini, Caffagni.

LEPORATI ON THE TOP


Fusto is the quickest at start of Race 1, followed by Leporati and Baglioni.

Fusto tries to resist the attacks of Leporati and Baglioni who are head to head. The leading trio makes hard brakes and flies to the chequered flag. In the final Fusto has to get out of the race and leaves his position to Paccagnella, who will end third. In the final sprint, Leporati prevails over Baglioni.

In Race 2 Fusto is still the quickest, chased by Leporati, Tortosa who is back to fight, and Baglioni. Fusto runs away from Leporati, Tortosa and Baglioni. In the final Fusto prevails; Leporati and Baglioni follow him.

Day podium: Leporati, Baglioni, Paccagnella.

SLOVENIAN ATTACK


In Race 1 the Spanish Daniel Guerrero Romera has a great sprint start, followed by Bessard and Marko Mihael. The group is compact. In the meanwhile Guerrero is penalised with 20 seconds for Jump Start and changes the race. Martin Mihael makes fast laps and goes to lead, as Bessard is bound to withdrawal. Raineri makes a big show and engages a duel with Martin Mihael who slides and restarts right away. Great final procession of Mihael brothers: Martin wins and Marko is second and precedes Beghelli.

In Race 2 Raineri starts first, chased by Benini and Guerrero. Raineri tries to run away, but Benini doesn’t lose contact. But they have to defend themselves from Guerrero starting to gain positions, passing Benini and Raineri. Guerrero is very quick and runs away from the adversaries, as Benini does the same towards Raineri. Martin Mihael emerges from the group and soon passes Raineri. At the end Guerrero wins before Mihael who passes Benini in the final.

Day podium: Mihael, Guerrero, Benini.

RUSSO SUPER STAR


In Race 1, Russo has a good sprint, followed by Mammi even though he will be assailed by Spatari and the journalist of moto.it Maurizio Vettor. Russo forces the pace and gains precious metres. But Vettor examines Spatari and manages to pass him in the central part of the race.

Russo wins lonely, as Vettor and Spatari have a duel: Vettor ends second on final sprint over Spatari.

In Race 2 Russo starts again before all other riders. Behind him, Mammi has another big start, followed by Spatari and Vettor. Russo gains precious seconds and metres over the adversaries, as Spatari and Vettor repeat the duel of Race 1. Spatari seems to be able to defend himself, but Vettor fulfils the final attack and manages to end second again. Day podium: Russo, Vettor, Spatari.
