Sixteen years passion for track races on scooters of Polini Italian Cup, a history that begins in 1945 by producing bicycles, then running and winning in Enduro, later by devoting to improve and optimise Vespa performances, successively by winning races and Italian titles in the National Scooter Trophy, finally in 2005 with Moto Club Bergamo by giving birth to Polini Italian Cup number one edition. Now, the great re-start after the long lockdown in full respect of anti Covid-19 rules on Pomposa circuit. It took all Polini’s passion and staff competence of MC Bergamo to flavour an uncertain season and take fifteen riders back to track on July 12th for the first round of the national Polini Italian Cup 2020 that includes two other races. All this in a mix of extraordinary passion, will of relaunch, experience and continual up-dating. Scooter 100 Big Evolution in Pomposa has been the great race of Matteo Tiraferri starting in the best way the championship, through the score 2 – 0, after losing the title in 2019 in the direct contest with his team mate Filippo Corsi.

In Race 1 Tiraferri starts first, chased by Morelli and Starnone. Starnone gets to second position, but Morelli attacks him and brings him out of way, so that he gains second position. Corsi gets close to the leading three and enters the fray for second position with Morelli and Starnone. The fight among three, Morelli, Starnone, Corsi helps Tiraferri’s escape, who scores record laps. At the end Starnone gets second position and distances Corsi on the final sprint, Morelli is fourth and Calonaci is fifth on recovery.

In Race 2 Tiraferri and Starnone fly to the race leadership. Tiraferri soon surprises Starnone who slips and lets all the group pass by, led by Corsi and Morelli.
Tiraferri is in the best position to impose his tough pace, so Corsi tries, in the initial phase, to follow his team mate of Polini, but Tiraferri is an uncatchable rocket. Behind Tiraferri and Corsi, Morelli is the protagonist of a capital race. From rear rows, Starnone starts a fantastic come-back so that he gets close to the group and can pass to fifth position in few laps and then to fourth position at the expense of Blando, afterwards he puts in the gunsight Morelli and Corsi that he will overtake on the final. Tiraferri wins even though Starnone is very good to end second before Morelli. Corsi is fourth before Calonaci.

In Race 1 very quick start for Boceda, chased by Di Fiore and Manzo, who after some laps goes to second position. the three distance the group, Boceda is very incisive. Manzo tries to attack, as Di Fiore doesn’t give up. Behind them, Sfiller, Nardo and Caminati run after and perform a big show by serial passings. Lap after lap Boceda escapes and on the final he has a fair lead to manage. At first passage, Boceda, Manzo, Caminati pass by.

Boceda tries again to impose his pace, as Manzo tries to assail unsuccessfully. Caminati and Nardo cancel the gap from Manzo and start a fight with Morselli. On the final, the lonely victory of Boceda before Morselli, Manzo, Caminati, Belardinelli.

Lightning quick start in Race 1 for Gabriele Beghelli, followed by Koren who gets to lead the race. Iannini chases and surprises Beghelli and Koren by passing them. It’s not over; Beghelli answers and takes control of the race. The leading group is compact and Lanzilao and Kogovsek join the challenge. Kogovsek is the author of a resounding fall with no consequences, that will cause the suspension of the race for some minutes. On the new start, the 5 remaining laps will be run; Koren is chased by Iannini, Lanzilao and Beghelli. On the first laps Martin Mihael quickly regains positions to show up as pretender for victory. In fact, Mihael passes Koren, Beghelli crosses first the finishing line. Second position for Beghelli, third for Koren before Iannini and Inversini.

In Race 2, Iannini leads, followed by Koren and Beghelli. After few laps Beghelli is second and assails Iannini. Compact group followed by Marola and the Slovenian Martin Mihael, who is really fast so that he can attack the leader Beghelli. Unlucky Lanzilao who, after joining again the leading group, ends up at the bottom of the group because of a fall. In the final, Iannini assails again and surprises Mihael. Koren is third before Beghelli and Marola fifth.
