On the new kart circuit in Castrezzato, a weekend of season finale 2020 that is up to the Polini Italian Cup tradition, a championship that has newly offered show, duels and contests till the last bend. But on this occasion they went farther, through the most prestigious national title of Scooter 100 Big Evolution Open, won by the official rider of Polini Scooter Team, Matteo Tiraferri. 45# (the race number with which Tiraferri competes) got his 7° national title in his career, the first in Scooter 100 Big Evolution Open, where his team mate Filippo Corsi had ruled in 2019.

In Race 1 Starnone surprises everybody, chased by the Spanish Juan Francisco Oliva, Tiraferri and Blando. After some curves Starnone gets wrong and Tiraferri tries to escape, but Oliva fights. On the third lap, Blando launches an attack, passes Oliva and threatens Tiraferri. In some laps Vignone joins the group and the race gets more lively, when four riders aim to victory. Two laps to go, Blando is third: the fight with Tiraferri lights up and after a contact Polini ends up on the ground. He gets up again but it’s too late: Oliva wins before Blando and Vignone.

In Race 2 Oliva is the most rapid, Blando and Tiraferri are in the trail. Starnone comes up too and joins the leading group, as Tiraferri moves to the lead of the race before Blando and Oliva. They both reply and on the sixth lap Blando rules the race, followed by the Spanish. Here’s the kicker, on the eighth lap: Oliva is first before Blando who makes a mistake by opening gas and slips before Tiraferri and Starnone who can’t avoid him. The race is interrupted and it will start again to complete the 5 remaining laps. Second start and Tiraferri gets to lead, followed by Starnone and Oliva. Morelli gets into the fight for the top three, but on the final the Team Polini rider wins on sprint and conquers his first national title of the class.

DAVID AGAINST GOLIATH


In Race 1 Fabio Testa leads the race over Dario Di Fiore. The two try to escape, but Davide Manzo reaches them and brings a group of riders along. The leading group is compact: Di Fiore is first by passing Testa, but the two are penalised by 20’’. Paved way for Belardinelli and Manzo who spare no effort with Carminati, who slips and opens the way for Sfiller and Casagrande. Belardinelli goes to win and precedes Manzo and Sfiller.

In Race 2 Di Fiore rules, followed by Testa and Manzo. Few laps after, the three seem to run away, but Belardinelli pursues them. On the fifth lap, Testa loses the rear part and paves the way for Manzo and Belardinelli who distance the others. Two laps to go, Belardinelli passes Manzo: among them a big friction, but Manzo has the better in the race and in the championship.

FLASH GORDON, LIKE AT CINEMA!


In Race 1 the Slovenian “Gordon” Luka Koren surprises everybody, chased by his team mate Martin Mihael and Luca Zani. Koren has no easy way, pursued by Mihael, but the chasing group strikes fear: Zani, Sauro, Marola are on the heels of the two Slovenians. On the fifth lap, Koren escapes and Mihael is attacked by Zani and Sauro. Final with Iannini who comes back from the group and passes Mihael and Zani. Victory of Koren and great second position of Iannini, before Zani and Mihael.

In Race 2 “Gordon” Luka Koren is a lightning, Mihael and Marola are just behind. The two riders bump into each other and have to restart from the rear rows. Koren leads, but Iannini reaches him and they start to fight. On the last lap, Iannini assails Koren: the bump is at the limit and Iannini apologises by lifting his hand. Mocking destiny because Iannini slides shortly after and gives the race and the championship to Mr. “Flash Gordon” Luka Koren; Sauro is second and Iannini third.
